BEHIND THE BRAND // HUSKEE.

A designer reusable coffee cup made for home users, cafes & on-the-go coffee drinkers.

huskee cup and universal saucer in charcoal

Huskee was born out of the necessity to reduce waste in the coffee industry. Their unique products are a biopolymer material that forms the basis of their cups, saucers and lids. Not only do these cups look beautiful but are durable, BPA free and most importantly sustainably made using waste husk left over from the production of coffee.

Lets go back to the origin of the story….After a coffee cherry is picked, it’s fermented to develop flavour and loosen the fruity flesh surrounding the seed, or bean. Once the desired amount of time has passed it’s then dried and milled. It’s during the milling stage of coffee production that you get husk, the last (second last if you count silver skin) remaining layer before the precious green bean. This is the tough fibrous shell that gets used for all the unique Huskee products.

Before Huskee, like many coffee farms around the world, husk was used as a fertiliser buffer or a fuel source - albeit not a very efficient one. Leftover husk was then left to pile up, posing not only a fire risk but also a pest problem. Huskee are committed to helping alleviate this issue through their products and community.

As well as providing a great at home cup for us all to sit, drink & enjoy, Huskee took their product to a wider audience by offering a reusable exchange cup programme across all participating coffee shops around the globe. With the UK drinking approximately 95 million cups of coffee per day, most of which is distributed in disposable paper cups, it is no wonder that UK landfills are filled to the brim with them.

Huskee Swap invites cafes to join the Huskee community in creating a better planet by serving takeaway coffees in reusable Huskee Cups. Inviting drinkers to take their empty reusable Huskee Cup back to their favourite café and swap it for a refilled clean one, reducing the use of single-use takeaway coffee cups in the process. What a great idea! Please contact us if you would like to learn more on being part of the Huskee Swap programme.

And to complete the Huskee Cup cycle, the brand have created Huskee Loop - the end-of-life program for your reusable coffee cup. When used over a long period of time, the cups can get a bit worn out, so Huskee's goal is to ensure they are repurposed into amazing new Huskee products. They have collection points that make it easy for you to drop off your HuskeeCup and send it off for a new lease of life.

Be part of the change by choosing a new sustainable and reusable coffee cup today.
